The Fox and the Hound is one of the greatest films ever made. I was a child when I first watched it, and still I knew it was iconic from the get-go. It made me cry, laugh, and wonder how such unusual friends became such an iconic duo. My little self wished for friend groups to look like the main characters in this film, always loyal and caring, no matter their differences. Of course, in movies, fantasy rules apply, and we suspend our disbelief. In other words, it's all made up and unrealistic, or so I thought.

As it turns out, sometimes, the most unexpected stories come from reality. As it happens, real life becomes the greatest source of inspiration, even in worlds that seem too impossible to become real. Friendship isn’t perfect. Just last week I got into an argument with one of my closest friends because of his very annoying habit of changing plans at the last second. I know, unbelievable; it should be punishable by jail. Thankfully, I have the internet to vent about it.
At the end of the day, we talked and made peace (for now). Even so, he remains one of my most valued friends, and he has been for years. In fact, that precise incident made me realize something quite basic about friendship. It doesn’t have to be perfect to feel perfect. Yes, we argue and disagree, yet somehow, our very different personalities fit perfectly when it comes to those moments that matter most.
That is exactly the case with these friendly animals. They might not share the same species or the same diet, but somehow, they fit perfectly when it's time to cuddle. I honestly believe the best and most memorable friends are precisely that, different from what you expected. They challenge you, make you angry, keep you on your feet, and move you to become better each day. These furry friends are unaware of the fantastical lesson they’ve just given. That said, you may also throw the lesson out the window and just focus on how adorable and wholesome they are.

Send this collection to that one friend you need to make peace with. Remind them that it doesn’t really matter how different you are from each other; there’s always a way to find common ground and enjoy life together. Also, remind them not to change plans at the last possible minute, because some of us moved our schedules around a lot, so we could show up.
